Ogopogo Resort offers Minden cottage rentals on Mountain Lake in the Haliburton Highlands, with eight year-round cottages welcoming guests since 1951.

Welcome to our website. Katherine and I took over this historic resort in Minden, Ontario on July 11, 2013. We are pleased to host you, your families and friends.We are so excited to be the owners of Ogopogo and to join the fabulous history that this resort has offered to many families. Our family grew up spending every summer at the family cottage and we both have so many wonderful memories and experiences to draw from. We hope to recreate those moments for our guests, and our goal is to offer everyone a fabulous cottage experience that will stay with you forever!

Life in a busy metropolis definitely has its benefits – lots of job opportunities, things to do, places to see, and people to hang out with. However, there often comes a time when you really have to step back from your busy life and get to a simpler time, in a simpler place. That’s where Ogopogo Resort comes in; surrounded by the majestic beauty of nature. You really can’t get any better than the Haliburton Highlands.

Our Minden cottage rentals include a private sandy beach, a heated swimming pool for resort guests, and free canoes, kayaks, paddleboats and paddleboards. Choose from studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom cottages, check our current cottage rental rates, and plan your stay with our four-season activities.

A Cottage Country Resort, Not a Hotel

Ogopogo Resort is a family-run cottage resort on Mountain Lake in Minden, in the heart of Ontario’s Haliburton Highlands. Our Minden cottage rentals are true homes of their own. Each of our eight cottages has a full kitchen, a private washroom, a gas fireplace and a covered deck with a lake or garden view. Every cottage also has its own propane BBQ, with the propane included, and the communal firepit is set up with firewood each day.

Choose from the Studio Cottage, with an indoor double Jacuzzi tub beside the master queen bed, two Lakefront One Bedroom cottages, three Lakeside Two Bedroom cottages (two with a Jacuzzi in the master bedroom), and two Garden Court Three Bedroom cottages. See all of them on our Cottages page.

Summer Families, Off-Season Couples

In July and August, Ogopogo is a family resort. Kids spend their days on our private sandy beach and in the heated pool, and everyone can take out the free canoes, kayaks, paddleboats and paddleboards. Summer stays run Saturday to Saturday by the week. Fishing boat rentals are available for anglers after smallmouth bass, pickerel, pike, tiger muskie and Haliburton Gold lake trout.

The rest of the year, Ogopogo is a quieter retreat for couples. Two-night getaways are perfect for fall colours, a spring weekend by the fireplace, or a winter escape with ice fishing on Mountain Lake. In winter we provide snowshoes at no extra cost, and the groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails at Twin Lakes Nordic Ski Trails are just across the road, about 500 metres from the resort. Minden Cottage Rentals That Are Easy to Reach and Easy to Love

Our Minden cottage rentals are about two and a half hours from the GTA, right on Highway 35, which is well plowed all winter. The Town of Minden is about seven minutes away and the Village of Haliburton about twenty. There’s free parking on site for every car, and Level 2 EV charging is available for an extra fee.

Best resort ever In all the 40 years my friends and I have gone away on weekends in Ontario, this is, without a doubt, the finest, cleanest, most well kept resort we’ve ever been to. Everything is in pristine condition and there is something for everyone. The lake and surrounding area is beautiful and the fishing is excellent. The owners, Katherine and Todd are very knowledgeable, friendly and great to talk to. You couldn’t possibly go wrong coming here to Ogopogo. It’s the best.

Winter Getaway This was our first stay at Ogopogo Resort. Even before we arrived we were super pleased with the service and support Katherine and Todd delivered. Simple to book, pay, any and all questions answered quickly and always friendly. The resort itself was beautiful. Our cottage was immaculate, cozy, super cute and had everything we needed. We ice fished, hiked and enjoyed an incredible few days away. I recommend Ogopogo resort without hesitation and look forward to going back next year!

Magnificent Mountain Lake This was our tenth stay at Ogopogo Resort. Todd and Katherine are such fantastic hosts! We appreciate the spotless cabins, the ready-to-go firepits, and the warm, welcoming vibe. We lucked out with the weather and had a wonderful time with our family at their little slice of heaven.

Relaxation time You can't control the weather so it was a cool weekend. We have enjoyed this resort before and are never disappointed. It is small and quiet. There are a lot of outdoor toys for activities of all ages. The cottages are small, but cozy. I am grateful not to have to drag linens with me but I prefer soft pillows rather than the hard pillows supplied. The coffee maker was not properly cleaned, but other than that all was great. If you decide to go out for breakfast the Heather Lodge is close by, reasonable and absolutely amazing!
