Summer Resort Activities in Haliburton

Our resort activities run through all four seasons. In the heart of lake country, Ogopogo Resort is ideal for a couples or family based vacation or getaway. We have also seen a growing trend for grandparents to vacation with their grandchildren giving Mom and Dad a break and creating special memories. We have created an environment that is both safe and relaxing for all. Swim, play in the sand, fish, canoe or kayak, go tubing and water-skiing and relax all on-site. Fabulous golf courses are within 15 minutes not to mention hiking and biking trails, live theatre, local artists studios, and white water kayaking.

Sand Beach & Swimming

Ogopogo has a sand beach area for young and older alike to enjoy the crystal clear waters of Mountain Lake. Our dock is great for swimmers looking for deep water.

Canoeing, Kayaking, Paddleboats, SUPs & Fishing Boats

Our small navy of boats is available for the use of our guests. There is no charge for our non-motorized craft and fishing boat rentals are available on a daily or weekly basis. There is a safe children’s play area near the pool.

Fishing on Mountain Lake

Mountain Lake has great Small Mouth Bass, Muskeye, Pickerel and Lake Trout fishing. Check out our fishing pictures under the activities section of our website. We offer for rent; 18 ft fibreglass boats complete with 25 hp electric start motors and swivel fishing seats.

Heated Swimming Pool for Resort Guests

Our heated outdoor pool is for the use of resort guests, weather permitting, open from late May until the September long weekend. There are lounge chairs along with patio tables to sit and read a book, watch your children and is an alternative option to enjoy the afternoon sun.

Golf

Within 15 minutes, there are five golf courses for the enthusiast.

Hiking and biking in haliburton county

Haliburton County boasts some great trails for hiking and biking whether it is a casual walk or a more serious adventure. Most trails are separate for hikers and bikes. Your hosts have maps of self-guided tours so please ask for them. In addition, Sir Sam`s Ski and Bike is about a half of an hour drive boasting some of the more scenic bike trails in the area as wll as the chair lift ride to the peak in summer and fall for those of you looking to take in the sights. They are known in the area for their downhill mountain biking, scenic chairlift rides, bike rental and pro shop. Visit Sir Sam`s Ski and Bike for more detailed information.

Area Activities

Haliburton County has a seemingly endless list of activities in the summer. Ask us about the Highlands Summer Festival live theatre and the Kinmount theatre and movie museum . Visit artists’ studios, antique shops, a miniature pioneer village, and the world’s biggest general store! Algonquin Park and the Haliburton Forest Wolf Center are only a short drive away.

 Verified Best resort ever In all the 40 years my friends and I have gone away on weekends in Ontario, this is, without a doubt, the finest, cleanest, most well kept resort we’ve ever been to. Everything is in pristine condition and there is something for everyone. The lake and surrounding area is beautiful and the fishing is excellent.  Verified Winter Getaway This was our first stay at Ogopogo Resort. Even before we arrived we were super pleased with the service and support Katherine and Todd delivered. Simple to book, pay, any and all questions answered quickly and always friendly. The resort itself was beautiful. Our cottage was immaculate, cozy, super cute and had everything we needed.  Verified Relaxation time You can't control the weather so it was a cool weekend. We have enjoyed this resort before and are never disappointed. It is small and quiet. There are a lot of outdoor toys for activities of all ages. The cottages are small, but cozy. I am grateful not to have to drag linens with me but I prefer soft pillows rather than the hard pillows supplied. The coffee maker was not properly cleaned, but other than that all was great. If you decide to go out for breakfast the Heather Lodge is close by, reasonable and absolutely amazing!
